Rawalpindi:
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s resignation when Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) President of the province has been accepted, it appeared on Tuesday.
Gandapur, who also manages the PTI-led provincial government, volunteered, with his resignation approved by PTI President Gooker Gohar about the instructions of party founder Imran Khan, revealed sources.
“Gandapur himself had requested Imran Khan to free him from the position, and the approval was awarded accordingly,” the sources added.
It is noteworthy that Gandapur had only been removed from the PTI KP President’s position and Junaid Akbar just two days ago.
On Saturday, PTI had announced an important leadership change in the province of chief minister Gandapur, who pulled down as PTI KP president. He was followed by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Junaid Akbar.
By announcing the change, PTI clarified Salman Akram Raja that Gandapur’s decision to resign was voluntary and would allow him to focus on his responsibility as chief minister. Raja highlighted urgent challenges, including legal and order problems, as the primary cause of the change.
PTI rejects ‘disinformation’
In a related development, lawyer Gohar Ali Khan said Imran Khan has rejected the “Disinformation”, circulating about Gandapur’s removal as the party’s provincial president.
In a speech with journalists outside Adiala prison after meeting Imran Khan, Barrister Gohar said the PTI founder categorically declared that misunderstandings were spread about the leadership transition in KP.
