Gilgit:
A simmering Earth and Border between Society in Gilgit-Baltistance (GB) Ghizer and Diamer Districts has emerged, coinciding with devastating floods that have already beaten both regions.
Government spokesman Faizullah Faraq said Tuesday that the administration is making “serious and effective effort” to solve the Singal Nallah boundary problem peacefully.
He emphasized that the Ghizer administration and the police handle the matter with professionalism and impartiality.
“The state’s writing will under no circumstances be compromised,” he warned, appealing to the residents to remember their common cultural, linguistic and social bonds. He described Gilgit-Baltistan as “a bouquet of different flowers”.
The situation was tense on Monday when dozens of armed men were discovered in the disputed area, just a day after flooding brought the destruction over GB. Ghizer and diamer were reported to be among the worst affected districts. Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan convened a high -level meeting to tackle the case, while local peace committees and other stakeholders have also been engaged in cutting off tensions.
To prevent violence, GB scouts have been deployed on both sides of the disputed border where police and other security agencies provide additional support.
“In a time when natural disasters have caused huge suffering, our duty is to share each other’s pain and support flood victims,” added Pharaq. “Border rice can be solved through Jirgas and negotiations at a later date. Right now, the focus must remain on rehabilitation and solidarity.”
