General Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Syed Asim Munir visited Peshawar on Monday where he met political leaders of various parties in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to discuss the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.
During the meeting, he stressed that while opponents may try to spread fear and instability, Pakistan’s security forces will not back down and will respond decisively to any effort aimed at disrupting peace in the country, Express News reported.
According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Munir was received by the Corps Commander Peshawar when he arrived in the city. He was briefed in detail about the current security situation, including ongoing anti-terrorist operations against the extremist group “Khawarij” and other threats.
During the visit, the army chief praised the sacrifices and determination of the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism. He noted that the country’s security forces had achieved exemplary success in fighting terrorism, making the nation proud of their efforts.
He highlighted the significant progress made in weakening terrorist groups, eliminating key leaders and destroying their networks, sending a strong message that there is no place for terrorism in Pakistan. He assured that this fight will continue until its logical conclusion.
General Munir also praised the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies to protect citizens and maintain law and order. He pointed out that many attacks had been thwarted, which contributed to the nation’s stability.
The army chief stressed that every operation carried out by the forces was a testimony to their commitment, professionalism and preparedness.
Addressing the political leaders, he delivered a clear message: any attempt to disturb the country’s peace would be met with a decisive and overwhelming response.
He stated, “The enemy may try to spread fear and chaos, but we will not retreat. We will deal with the enemy elements with an iron fist and they will suffer significant losses.”
COAS Munir also expressed his appreciation for the high morale of Pakistan Army personnel and noted their unwavering determination to protect the nation’s sovereignty.
He maintained that the armed forces and law enforcement agencies are united as an invincible force in the country’s fight against terrorism.
After his visit to military installations, General Munir met with political leaders from various parties. Leaders agreed on the need for a unified political voice and public support in the fight against terrorism.
