The investigation of the high-profile 9 May attack case has seen his investigative officer replaced for the second time, police sources confirmed Monday.
The case registered by RA Bazaar Police Station, names PTI Foundation Chairman Imran Khan and other key party leaders as accused.
According to sources, Inspector Tariq Gondal has now been appointed the new GHQ attack officer for the GHQ attack case under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Inspector Nazim Shah, the previous second investigative officer, retired after completing his tenure, while the first officer, Mirza Javed, was moved from the investigation after his promotion to DSP.
Inspector Tariq Gondal, who already serves as an investigative officer in two other cases 9 May, will now handle the GHQ attack case. He is also able to draw the attack on Waris Khan Metro Station and cases related to riots, arson and vandalism at Liaquat Bagh Chowk on May 9.
The retired inspector Nazim Abbas handed the entire investigation Record to Inspector Gondal, including the case file, list of witnesses and recorded statements.
Sources added that the newly appointed officer in the upcoming prison attempt of the GHQ attack case will present the complete record to the court. All accused released against bail will also formally be informed through official correspondence.
