Giants’ Abdul Carter finally picks Jersey number

If Abdul Carter’s choice of jersey number was a batting average he would be in the Hall of Fame.

At least he can now build a Hall of Fame CV on a number that could go down in New York Giants Lore.

After being shut down to carry both Lawrence Taylor’s No. 56 and Phil Simms’ No. 11, Carter, the third total choice of draft, resides in No. 51.

Giants announced that Carter will carry the number to Rookie mini stamp (Jaxson Dart got No. 6 and Cam Tax Bo No. 44), but the number is subject to change.

Carter asked Taylor, perhaps the biggest gigantic and defensive player ever if he could carry his No. 56, which was retired by Giants in 1994. It was a hard no from LT himself.

No. 51 was worn last season by Edge Rusher Azeez Ojulari, now with Philadelphia Eagles. It was first seen in a giant in 1946 by Chet Gladchuk.
