- TCA Report claims ESIM shipments show a 35% year to year
- ESIM -Profil downloads rose by 56%
- Despite ESIM -Growth, traditional SIM -cards remain stable at 3.7 billion units
New figures have claimed that eSIM shipments hit 503 million units by 2024, marking an increase of 35% year to year.
The TCA report says the growing availability of eSIMs for international journey ran consumer intake, which led to an increase of 56% in eSIM profile transfers.
Regionally, North America saw the largest consumer recording of eSIMs due to operators pursuing ‘digital-first’ strategies and only ESIM devices that are easily accessible on the market. Meanwhile, Esims for Asia saw a double uptake in profile transfers, while Europe also experienced increased demand.

The data also suggests an improved economic landscape by 2024 increased demand for smartphones and mobile subscriptions, which positively affects ESIM growth.
“Our latest data is still offering the clearest demonstration of the extent to which ESIM technology is now being exploited over the global digital economy that provides flexible connection, advanced security and improved experiences,” said Bertrand Moussel, chairman of the TCA board.
The recommended 5G SIM/ESIM market also grew by 68% percent, with North America and Europe led implementations. While there was a recording in eSIM adoption in North America and Europe, the traditional SIM card market remains stable.
“As the eSIM ecosystem continues to expand to include a number of new use cases, it also makes the importance of industrial cooperation to ensure that all implementations are supported by a strong foundation for trust, consistency and reliability,” mousse added.
