LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan reiterated the party’s demand for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan with a demand to strongly oppose 27th constitutional amendment.

Speaking at the Lahore High Court, Gohar expressed concern over the judicial backlog, stating that 2.3 million cases are pending before the subordinate judiciary nationwide, including 814,000 criminal cases. In Punjab alone, he noted, 275,000 criminal cases remain pending.

He said the rising addiction reflects a justice system under pressure and highlights the urgent need for institutional reforms.

Regarding the political situation, Gohar stressed that the PTI would continue to seek legal means for the release of its founding chairman.

“We will continue to pursue his (Imran’s) release through the courts,” he said.

“When political leaders meet, they talk about the country and the parliament,” he added, noting that “there is nothing unusual if someone visits Shah Mehmood Qureshi, especially when he is sick.”
