- Microsoft Word automatically begins autosavers to OneDrive
- More OneDrive — changes also aim to make the division easier
- New third -generation sharing options are on the way
A new update to Microsoft’s productivity suite will view Microsoft Word automatically save Documents to OneDrive by default to make sure your work does not waste if you accidentally close an app or have power switch.
Insiders already see the Cloud Backup feature roll out, with multiple users set to get the update over time.
Microsoft says the change is designed to improve cloud storage backups and sync across devices in a world where hybrid work has seen an increase in setups of multiple devices, Byod and on-the-GO work.
Words have begun to save on OneDrive automatically
“Your work is protected, instantly divisible and ready for real-time collaboration,” wrote 25-year-old Microsoft veteran and product management VP Jason Moore in a blog post.
“Every day we create and share more content than we can do. From documents, images, meeting recordings, design drafts, spreadsheets and photos that catch our lives. The real challenge is not only to find these files, but to transform them into momentum,” added Moore, who covered new copilot and OneDrive changes announced in a mini -update.
The company has also added a shortcut to make shared files and folders appear in OneDrive to make it easier to see all your projects content in one place.
Given Microsoft, only cloud-first creation for Word documents noted, it’s unclear whether PowerPoint, Excel and other apps will also automatically save on OneDrive.
Moore noted the rapid development of intelligence file management, seamless collaboration and personal content organization – all covered by the OneDrive and the Copilot update.
Looking ahead, Microsoft is also looking to bring OneDrive Photos Galleries to Windows in an attempt to follow Apple’s photos app.
A separate post in the Microsoft roadmap, track as 492622, reveals work on a “third generation” M365 sharing experience for a “seamless and consistent way to share”-but it is due until April 2026.
