- Google’s ‘work everywhere’ policy is tightened up
- The company says it was never designed as an alternative to working from home
- Leisure APPLICATION WEEKS IN WEEK SO A DAY COST A HELD WEEK
Google is believed to revoke some remote work policies and tighten its ‘work everywhere’ (WFA) policy that was first introduced when the world struggled to establish new norms in a post -pandemic world.
This is on top of previous changes in its hybrid work setup, which require most workers to be in the office for at least three days a week.
Revisions of the company’s WFA policy will mean that Google employees cannot work from a further destination, such as when traveling, as easy as before.
Google makes major changes in its ‘work everywhere’ policy
Previously, Googler was allowed to work from their chosen destination up to four weeks a year, giving them more time to spend on vacation or expanding seasonal visits.
But now even shorter requests will still count for a week’s allowance. “Whether you are logging 1 WFA -Day or 5 WFA days in a given standard working week, pull 1 WFA week from your WFA weekly balance,” states a company document (via CNBC).
Google VP John Casey allegedly said at a meeting with all hand (via CNBC) That the policy had always been intended to be taken in a step in a week and not as a replacement for working from home.
Workers do not have permission to use WFA quotas to work from home or nearby, the company said. The “legal and financial consequences of cross -border work” also make work from abroad unacceptable.
Failure to comply with the policy could see that employees are facing disciplinary action or termination, but not everyone will be necessary to follow the updated WFA policy – specifically data center workers and those who must be in physical offices.
