- Google I/O 2025 is set to May 20 – May 21
- I/O generally covers a lot of land but we expect big updates about Gemini
- I/O 2024 brought us Gemini, Project Astra, a Sora Competition and More
Google continues its tendency to set event dates months in advance. And if you’ve been eager to learn more about Project Astra, maybe a future pixel device or just more and more about Gemini, Google I/O 2025 is set to May 20 and May 21. Where? Well, of course it’s in Mountainview, California at Shoreline Amphitheatre.
We can expect the main key to happen on first day – May 20, 2025 – and one of the best parts of Google’s annual developer conference is that you never really know what you might see. Last year we were treated on hours on Google Gemini, AI, a little about the Android Platform and a Drill at the end of Project Astra. We even went practically with it, and later in 2024 we got Google Gemini live.
The good thing is that Google will live stream keynote speaker and less develop four -page chats, and – the best part – Techradar will be on the ground to give you the latest as it happens. It also just happens that Google’s event is in the middle of Microsoft’s Build conference, which is set to May 19 to May 22 in Seattle, Washington.
As this invitation just hit our inbox and this story evolves, here is a short list of what we could see is debuting on I/O 2025.
- The next version of Google Gemini
- An update on project Astra
- Debut of Android 16
- A look at future pixel units
- Potentially a next generation drop VEO, Google’s generative video cabinets
- New features for Google Photos and the entire G-SUITE
And it’s really just the tip of the iceberg as Google generally treats I/O’s keynote speaker as a chance to show the latest tech, and sometimes tech that really is just there to get a crowd reaction. However, one thing is certainly that AI will be the center of attention and will get a lot of air time under the keynote speaker.
We saw Google Usher in the Gemini era last year, and the company is likely to take even more updates to its most important AI -suite. It has also released a steady stream of updates to the Gemini page, with 2.0 and a few subsequent models such as Gemini 2.0 flash falling earlier this month. Google is likely to follow steep competition from like Openai, Microsoft and even Newcomer Deepseek.
Surely enough before May 20, roll around – and the most important Google I/O keynote – Google will roll even more updates to Gemini, Android and its various other products. Who knows we can even see Google Pixel 9A debut before then.
