- Google photos celebrate its 10 -year birthday
- New editing tools are coming to Android and iOS
- Users will also be able to share photos via QR code
Google Photos has now been with us for 10 years, and Google marks the apartment by redesigning the app’s photo editor and adding some of the AI-driven trickery that were previously exclusive to the best pixel phones.
The editor collects some key features together while adding new ones: Choose to edit a photo and you will see that a number of proposed improvements are emerging. Tap someone or something in an image and even more suggestions appear, such as the possibility of moving the marking elsewhere in the picture or blurrying the background behind it.
Tools that have previously been exclusive to the Google Pixel 9 series will now be available to everyone. They include car frame to get suggested crops for a shot and reimagine that acts as a Mini AI image generator to let you introduce new items or edit existing with text elections.
Other examples provided by Google include getting suggestions on how to improve a specific area in a photo and change the look of the sky using the Reimagine tool – so you can transform a cloudy day into a sunny if you want. The redesigned editor will reach Android next month, with iOS after “Later in the year”.
Easier sharing
Away from the redesigned editor, Google Photos apps also makes it easier to share photos with other people. You will now be able to do this using a QR code – so you can just pass the code to other people or send it in public for someone to use.
Google has also used the opportunity to share some tips and tricks to use the photos app. These are not new but you may not have been aware of them: as the way you can press Places on Collections The tab to see your photos scattered across places and focus on images and videos from specific places.
Another feature highlighted by Google is the way you can use natural language in searches, whether “me in a blue shirt” or “On the beach” – and Google’s AI will find what you’re looking for. Just press Search Button down into the lower right corner, then put your query at the top.
According to Google, since the launch 10 years ago, more than 9 trillion photos and videos have been stored on the service, and more than 1.5 billion people use it monthly – making 210 edits each month between them. But personally, I think it’s still a shame that Google removed unlimited storage for pixeleers.
