- Google Pixel 10 Series could have built-in magnets for magnetic wireless charging
- A new line of ‘pixelnap’ accessories may start to take advantage of this feature
- The Pixel 10 series could also have improved speakers
Android phones have technically been able to support Magsafe-like charging for a while now, but so far no handset with great name has fully embraced the technology. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series offers a half-measurement solution that requires a magnetic case-but Google Pixel 10 series can actually have magnets built in.
This rumor comes from Android Authority, and if it is true, you would mean you would be able to magnetically attach wireless chargers and other accessories to Google Pixel 10 without requiring special cases.
Android Authority claims to have seen “credible marketing material designed for retailers” showing that Google is working on magnetic accessories for Pixel 10. This accessory would use the QI2 standard (which enables magnetic wireless charge), and they include a ‘pixel snap charger’, a ‘pixel snap with status’ and a pixelnap ring’.
The first two are self -explanatory, while ‘Pixelsnap Ring Stand’ may be a tripod for your phone that does not include a charger.
Given that Google has previously rumored to work on a ‘hub mode’ for his phones, these racks would make sense as HUB mode would act as a smart screen where a tripod would come well.
Faster charging and better speakers
In any case, Android Authority also found evidence of a upcoming Google Wireless Charger in a Trade Database, and its specifications allow in theory of 60W wireless charging – although current pixel models can’t even charge it quickly with wires, Google is likely to limit speeds.
The database also mentions that this upcoming charger is coming in ‘Rock Candy’ and ‘Mist’ shades that Android Authority speculates on black and off-white respectively.
And as well as an upgrade upgraded Google Pixel 10 series also improved speakers, with Android headlines that claim they will be the best speakers ever on a pixel phone, though those missing Dolby Atmos.
As always with leaks, we would take all this with a pinch of salt for now, but it is surprising that the Android device manufacturers do not yet embrace magnetic charging, so we are hope that the Google Pixel 10 series will. The phones are likely to be launched in August, so we should find out if they are doing then.
