- Here’s another sign that Pixel 10 is coming
- It might be the fastest starter pixel yet
- Expect it to appear sometime in the middle of 2025
Google Pixel 9A was made official earlier this week, but we are already far into the rumor season for Pixel 10, which was going to be later in the year – and the handset just appeared in Android’s Codebase, with a hint of a useful speed upgrade.
As discovered by Android Authority, the Pixel 10 has been NameChecket in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) code. It is the code on which all the different Android flavors are based, including the pixel software and Samsung’s one user interface.
What’s more, changes in the startup process on Pixel 10 apparently lead to the handset that starts faster, according to a Google Engineer – although the device will of course only be in the very early stages of the test right now.
It seems that it is down to something called parallel module load, which basically burdens different bits Android with each other, rather than one at a time – which you may have guessed from the name. Pixel 10 shows a 30% speed improvement in this particular part of the boot process, according to code comments.
Camera upgrades are jerked
This will also not be exclusive for Pixel 10: Parallel module load improvements should also be rolled out to other recent Android hand sets. It may well be included as part of Android 16, which is due sometime in mid -2025.
As for Pixel 10, it may well appear in August – which would be a nice 12 months after the launch of the Google Pixel 9 series. To date, however, we have not heard too much in the way of leaks and rumors.
We have seen some leaks in terms of model numbers and internal code names, but they are not very exciting. Of more interest, rumors are that Pixel 10 could come up with some camera upgrades, including an extra rear camera.
While the Pixel 9A ditched the iconic rear chamber line that we are used to on the Pixel series, it will probably return to the Pixel 10 phones. We can expect several different models to appear again, including – perhaps – a successor of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
