- Pixel 10 could support charging in Magsafe style
- This comes from a freshly locked picture of the phone
- Google can also launch some ‘pixelnap’ accessories
We are all ready for the big reveal of the Google Pixel 10 series on Wednesday, August 20, and the leaks continue. The latest unofficial batch of images sent online confirms a previous rumor: Magsafe for Android is coming.
These pictures are from Veteran -Tipster Evan Blass, and as well as showing Pixel 10 from different angles, we can also see a charging puck connected to the back of one of the phones – as if magnetically snapped in place.
It apparently confirms that the Pixel 10 hand set will support the Qi2 Wireless charging standard, including support for magnets holding a charger in place. Some previous Android phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S25, have adopted Qi2, but without the magnetic snapping part of it.
Of course, Apple’s own Magsafe Tech has led the way hit and added the extra magnetic touch to wireless charging, which means chargers can click in place. We can expect a number of third-party Android accessories to appear now.
As previously rumored
This is not the first time we have heard this rumor and there were whispers about it back in June. Apparently, Google is preparing some accessories with ‘Pixelsnap’ branding, which presumably works a lot like Magsafe Chargers do for iPhone.
Whether this technique will come to other Android phones or not is still to look, but it looks likely. We know that Samsung is definitely thinking about it, but we haven’t seen it on any phones yet – including the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7.
While Magsafe-style charging is definitely advantageous and convenient for phone users, it means that magnets need to be embedded in the actual handsets, which can add the majority and cost of these devices.
We will have to wait and see what Google says about this new technology when the phones are launched. We have seen a lot of leaked reproductions of the phones in the past with Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Bud 2A to be launched at the same time.
