- Some users report a durability problem with Google Pixel 9 Pro
- The phone’s iconic camera line is apparently separated from the back panel

User Reports show that Google Pixel 9 Pro may have a design error that relates to the iconic camera mounted on the back panel.
Several users have reported problems and durability problems over the Google Pixel 9 Pro’s Cameralar, which in the most extreme cases literally peel away from the rest of the phone.
In a now-plated post to R/Pixel_Phones shared Reddit user Mohiflaz images that clearly show the Pixel 9 Pro camera line that differs from the phone’s chassis.
Phoneearena talks about Mohiflaz said in the original post that they had been careful with the phone, never dropped it and held it “in a case with a screen protector since the hour of ownership.”
The poster also said they had contacted Google for support but had not been offered any help because the phone was more than 90 days old.
This seems to contradict Google’s own one-year limited warranty that covers defective devices for repair or replacement beyond the first 15-day return window, a response that has collected considerable criticism online.
Mohiflaz has apparently since deleted their Reddit account.
Not the first time
As Android Central notes, this is not the only time r/pixel_phones subbreddit has seen discourse on this question. Back in October 2024, the user Lakhip shared a post with pictures that detailed how the camera bar on their Google Pixel 9 Pro had started lifting on the right side. Fortunately, the user was able to get a replacement.
It is worth remembering that complaints online typically represent a minority of users and there is no suggestion that this question is particularly widespread.
In fact, we were so impressed with the Pixel 9 Pro during the test that we crowned it our phone of the year for 2024 and gave it somewhere on our list of the best phones, making these reports of camera beam breaking even more about.
We’ve reached Google to comment on this question and will update this article with any new information. Hopefully this is just a shock in the way of one of the best Android phones on the market.
