Google Pixel 9A could prove a compelling alternative to Google Pixel 9 as this upcoming mid-ranger is likely to cost less, but still may not be much of a specifications downgrade.
Nothing is familiar with certain yet, but Pixel 9A has become extensive rumored and points to a phone with solid specifications and a surprising redesign.
You’ll find everything we’ve heard about Google Pixel 9A below and we update this article when we hear something more.
Cut to the hunt
- What is it? The next middle class pixel
- When is it out? Possibly 19 March
- How much does it cost? Possibly $ 499 / £ 499 / AU $ 849
A March launch and an unchanged price
- Reported Landing on March 19
- The starting price can be the same as the pixel 8As
We can get very specifically about when the Pixel 9A may be launched, as a source claims the phone will go up for pre -order on March 19.
Now they do not mention the actual message date, but given that Google Pixel 8A went up for pre-order on the day of his message, there is a good chance 19. March will also be the message date-if this source is right. They also claim that Google Pixel 9A will start sending on March 26.
Given how much we have now heard of Pixel 9A, these impending dates are credible, but it is worth noting that Pixel 8A first launched last May.
We also have an idea of how much the phone can cost, with an early Pixel 9A price leakage pointing to a starting price of $ 499.
Since then, the same place repeated this claim, but added some more details and said the $ 499 Pixel 9A model has 128 GB of storage and that there will also be a 256 GB version for $ 599.
In that case, the starting price – at least in the US – will be the same as for Pixel 8A. If we assume the price is also the same elsewhere, we look at a starting price of £ 499 / AU $ 849.
$ 599 for 256 GB, however, would be $ 40 more than last year, which could mean a similar increase as perhaps about $ 599 / AU $ 999 elsewhere.
You will probably at least get some freebies thrown in with the phone, with a leak that says Pixel 9A comes with a six-month subscription to Fitbit Premium, a three-month subscription to the 100 GB level in Google One and a Three three -Moon subscription to YouTube Premium.
Can you trust these rumors?
Given that Pixel 8A landed only back in May, we would claim a March launch with a pinch of salt, but since no sources disagree with this and the phone is largely leaking, it is credible.
We are also inclined to believe that the starting price may not rise – at least in the United States, although up to several sources we blow in, we cannot be safe at all.
Larger and lighter with a questionable redesign

- Pixel 9A could have a 6.3-inch 120Hz screen
- Its cameras may look very different from the pixel 8As
- It can be lighter than the current model
We first looked at the possible Google Pixel 9A design back in August with photos of what is probably a prototype.
These images – as you can see below – show a very different camera to either Pixel 8A or Pixel 9. The camera on these phones is gone and replaced by a glossy, almost flat ring around the lenses.
It’s not a design we love, but it’s one we might get, because since then we’ve seen photos of another Pixel 9A Prototype and some Pixel 9A renderings that you can all see below and all shows The same design.
These subsequent pictures also gave us a closer look at the front of the phone, but not so much has changed there, with this with a flat screen and a punch-hole-self-camera.
We have also heard that Pixel 9A may have dimensions of 154.7 x 73.2 x 8.9 mm, which would make it slightly higher and wider than 152.1 x 72.7 x 8.9 mm pixel 8A. Does that mean Pixel 9A has a larger screen? It may be because another source agrees with these dimensions, adding that Pixel 9A’s display will be 6.3 inches – up from 6.1 inches on Pixel 8A.
This other source adds that it will not surprisingly be a 120Hz screen and that the Pixel 8A will weigh 186g, which is a bit surprising as the allegedly smaller Pixel 8A is a little heavier at 188g.
Finally on the design front, we have also heard that Pixel 9a’s colors may include porcelain (off-white), obsidian (black), peony (pink) and iris (bluish-purple). Of them, only Iris would be particularly new to the pixel line.
Can you trust these rumors?
Given how many sources have shared images of Pixel 9A, we will say that this is likely this is the design we will see.
The dimensions are also probably accurate as they come from several sources again, and as it makes the phone bigger than its predecessor, it will probably also have a larger screen.
The colors and weights we are less sure of, however, until we hear the same from other sources.
A new camera

- Could have a new 48MP head sensor
- The other cameras may be unchanged
From the various leaked images we have seen, it seems that Google Pixel 9A will have a double-lens camera, and beyond that, a source has claimed that the Pixel 9A will have a 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultra. along with a 13MP front facing snapper.
The Pixel 8A also has 13MP Ultrabe and Selfie cameras, so these sensors may be the same, but that phone has a 64MP main camera. In other words, the main camera here can be upgraded or at least changed.
Can you trust these rumors?
Since only one source has talked about the camera species so far, we would take them with a pinch of salt, but we are almost sure that the Pixel 9A has a double line camera.
A tensor G4 and a large battery

- Likely to be equipped with a tensor G4
- The battery could be 5,000 mAh
According to a source, Google Pixel 9A will have a Tensor G4 chipset paired with 8 GB of RAM and a choice of 128 GB or 256 GB of storage. Another source has also claimed that the Pixel 9A wants the chipset, which is no surprise as the rest of the Pixel 9 line uses a Tensor G4. However, these ram and storage amounts would be the same as Pixel 8A, so there may be no upgrades on this front.
This second source also claims to expect seven years of Android updates, and we have heard that Pixel 9A may have a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W cable and 7.5W wireless charging.
These are the same charging speeds as Pixel 8A and slightly lower than Pixel 9, but at 5,000 mAh the battery would be larger than any of these phones.
Can you trust these rumors?
The Pixel 9A will almost certainly use a Tensor G4 chipset as its predecessor uses the Tensor G3. Most of these other claims are also credible, but we are a little skeptical that it will have a 5,000 mAh battery as leaks suggest that it will be lighter than the Pixel 8A and a larger battery is sure to add a certain weight.
