- Google raises $ 1 billion in funding for AI education across the United States
- Qualified students also get 12 months of Google AI Pro, with Gemini 2.5 Pro and more
- The news comes only a few weeks after Microsoft announced a similar scheme but to the 4x value
Google has confirmed an obligation to spend $ 1 billion over the next three years to support AI education and education throughout the United States, targeting colleges, universities and non -profit organizations.
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai explained in a blog post that more than 100 colleges and universities have already signed up for his AI for Education Accelerator Program, hoping to make AI and career education free for each university student in America.
Google’s educational efforts are already adding extensive commitment in education – the company is already running schemes to get Chromebooks in the hands of students in several countries and regions.

In the post, Pichai explained his own personal motivation for the project: “Having regular access to computers in the degree school changed my life and led me on the path to Google. It is my hope that it will also open the best AI tools to university students for them.”
The latest message sees eligible students all over the United States as well as Japan, Indonesia, Korea and Brazil, which is able to sign up for a year of free Google AI Pro plan with Gemini 2.5 Pro Access, Deep Research via Gemini 2.5 Pro, VEO 3, higher limits for Jules, Notebooklm and 2TB storage.
Pichai, who boasts his presence across the education sector and offers a small graves on Microsoft, who previously dominated the area, noted that more than four out of five of the 100 US universities are now using Google Workspace for education.
However, Google is not the only company that invests in re -schooling the current generation of students and our future workforce.
Microsoft President Brad Smith recently shared details of a $ 4 billion investment in AI and cloud technology for K-12 schools, social and technical colleges and nonprofit organizations. Other companies in this space, including Meta, Openai, Anthropic and Amazon, have also all promised their own support.
