- Google asking eager users to choose their favorite feature descriptions
- Focus is on surrounding Mount Screenshinfo and Gemini Live on Google TV
- No details of launching date or unit availability yet
Google has tested the water for some interesting new Google TV features, and as a result, it is greatly revealed about the upgrades that come to a Google TV set or streaming near you.
It all happens on Google TV Advisors Club, launched by the end of 2024 to get feedback from Google TV users. And its first targeted study of club users asked users with help “attempts to find out the clearest way to describe some exciting new features”.
So what has Google cooked?
What features did Google have asked users?
We already reported the basic updates that come to Google TV, including Gemini support – but we get a little more information about them from the study.
As the Android police report, the first function of the study is the surrounding screen saver that can provide information as well as species; Google’s proposed marketing messages talk about how “When you get closer, it switches to an overview of useful information such as time, weather and news headlines”.
There is also a lot about Gemini Live on Google TV. The most detailed proposed messaging talks about having a “natural, free -flowing conversation” with Gemini, which you can interrupt if you want to add more details or change the subject; Brainstorming high “from finding recipes to planning your next movie-themed party”; Exploration of new topics by chatting with Gemini; And most interesting, “Practice for interviews, presentations or other important moments of feedback from Gemini.”
Again, we knew that Google TV would get Gemini, but to what extent it supports the full flexibility of Gemini Live was unclear-in combination with several remote microphones in TVs, the idea is clearly that Google TV devices are easily acting as an AI home assistant hub.
There is no indication of a release window for these features, or details of which TVs will get the features first, even if they expect to get to a lot of Google TV sets that include several of the best TVs. But if Googles on stage with testing its marketing ideas, a release cannot be very far away.
