- New AI features are coming to Google Calendar
- ‘Help me schedule’ seems to make meetings a smoother experience
- The feature is only available for meetings with two participants
If you spend a frustrating amount of time talking about holding meetings, discussing availability, and adjusting schedules to find a time that works—you’re in luck thanks to a new Gemini feature.
Gmail with Gemini introduces a new ‘Help me schedule’ feature that will help users book meetings and organize your calendar – making it much easier to find times that work for everyone.
The feature will be available as a button in the email toolbar – when you click it, Gemini will automatically suggest available seats based on your Google Calendar along with the context of the email.
Customizable with context
You can customize Gemini’s suggestions by adding or removing additional options and then pasting them directly into your Gmail message. Once the recipient receives the email, they can choose the time that works best for them and a calendar invitation will be automatically inserted into both calendars.
Often the difficulty with planning comes when you’re trying to get a group together when everyone has different priorities and schedules, so it’s important to note that when this feature launches, it won’t be available for groups, two people only.
“This isn’t just a ‘show me when I’m free’ feature,” Google’s statement explains.
“Gemini actually considers the email context—so if someone asks for a 30-minute meeting next week, it will suggest a half-hour time before the end of the week that fits your schedule. You can edit the suggestions, paste them directly into your email, and when the recipient chooses a time, the calendar invitation will automatically appear on both calendars.”
Within meetings, Gemini can generate responses based on meeting texts and other Google Workspace resources with ‘Ask Gemini in Meet’, supporting the AI tools provided by Google.
