The government has raised concerns about the security risks, such as portable smart devices, including smartwatches and fitness trackers, and felt them as a potential threat to cyber security, Express News reported.

National Telecom and Information Technology Security Board (NTISB) issued the advice and warned that these devices could compromise sensitive information. According to sources, the cabinet department has recommended a ban on the use of such devices in sensitive places.

CyberSecurity Advisory highlighted the risk of data leakage and unauthorized tracking designated by portable devices. “These smart devices are used to leak confidential information and their use in sensitive places can lead to cyberattacks,” the advisory says.

NTISB also advised that before any use of these devices in sensitive places, a thorough review of their security mechanisms should be performed. The counseling also recommended to impose restrictions on their use during crucial meetings or in places dealing with sensitive operations.

With concern about privacy and national security, the advisory is rising a growing focus on protecting digital environments from potential threats.
