The authorities of the Kurram district have ripped four more bunkers as part of the ongoing efforts to enforce a local peace agreement, while rival factions are set to hold another round of conversations in Peshawar today, according to Express News.
According to district officials, the removal of bunkers continues as agreed, with the latest demolitions taking place in Balish Khel and Anarar by the help of explosives.
So far, a total of 26 bunkers have been run, with additional operations in progress.
Authorities have confirmed their obligation to implement Kohat Peace Accord aiming to stabilize the region. Measures such as escorted convoys are also introduced to ensure public security.
Meanwhile, sources Express News told rival factions after a central meeting in Islamabad will meet again in Peshawar for further negotiations.
The first discussions covered security concerns and social media abuse.
The upcoming Jirga will focus on detailed peace talks and confidence -creating measures between the opposing groups.
Police officer martyred from injuries in Kurram Attack on AC
Previously, a police officer was wounded in an attack on assistant commissioner in Kurram has succumbed to his injuries.
Police sources confirmed the death of the police officer, according to an Express News report.
On January 31 in Upper Kurram, three police officers, including assistant commissioner for Kurram, were wounded in a firing event aimed at a government convoy who was on the way to convey a ceasefire between two tribes.
SHO stated that while the district administration had successfully conveyed a ceasefire in Upper Kurram, the convoy, sent to negotiate with the other party, came under fire.
Assistant Commissioner of Kurram, Manan, who led the convoy, was injured in the attack.
Police reported that the Assistant Commissioner was on his way to Boshhera to maintain peace and order when the firing was opened from the direction of Fatah Khel, Express News reported.
According to police, three other officers were also wounded in the shooting, and the wounded assistant commissioner, Revenue Officer Saeed Manan, was moved to the Operation Theater.
