Former New York Yankees star Mark Teixeira swung on the Democrats before the US Senate failed to adopt a bill that would have avoided a government’s shutdown.
Teixeira, running for Congress in Texas, responded to social media on a warning from the house’s speaker rep. Mike Johnson, R-Louisiana, who said on Pakinomist Channel on Monday, to late. Chuck Schumer, D-New York, and the Democratic Party planned to shut down the government to “reassure their father-left-base.”

The World Series Master suggested he had enough.
“That’s exactly why I’m running,” Teixeira wrote on X Tuesday. “Democrats are destroying our country and President Trump needs reinforcements that will fight to take our country back.”
Hours after Teixeira’s speech, the government’s financing bill failed to get through the Senate. The Bill, which would have given Congress until November 21, to determine FY 2026 financing priorities, the house adopted largely along party lines on September 19. The Senate is expected to vote on the same bill again on Wednesday, with more votes coming through the rest of the week and into the weekend until either an agreement is concluded or the Democrats affiliated.
President Donald Trump told journalists earlier in the day that Republicans did not want a shutdown, but warned GOP could inflict pain on the Democrats if the government closes.

“We can do things during the shutdown that are irreversible, which is bad for them and irreversible of them, like cutting a large number of people, cutting things that they like cut programs they like,” Trump said, referring to the Office of Management and Budget’s Memo on mass reports.
Schumer, Senate’s minority leader, responded to Trump during a press conference on Tuesday, “Well, it is. Trump admitted himself that he is using Americans as political peasants. He admits he is firing people. If God forbids it, he uses Americans as peasants.”
“As I said, the Democrats did not want a shutdown. We are ready to work with Republicans to find a top -art compromise and the ball is in their court,” Schumer said.
Teixeira launched its Texas campaign ’21. Congress District in August. It followed Rep. Chip Roy’s decision not to apply for re -election.
