Governor Pens second letter to SHC CJ

Sindh -Governor Kamran Tessori has written another letter to Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice, calling for immediate action on the increasing number of traffic deaths in Karachi.

In his letter, Tessori emphasized administrative negligence and legal violations as important causes of fatal accidents in the city.

The governor expressed concern about a recent incident where four citizens lost their lives in a single day.

He pointed out that despite a court decision that limits heavy traffic from entering the city between 7 p.m. 7 and 23, continues complaints about non -compliance.

Governor Tessori requested High Court to secure a strict implementation of its orders to prevent further tragedies.

Earlier, Karachi Division -Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi announced a complete ban on heavy traffic in the city during the day for the next two months.

The decision aims to mitigate the increasing number of traffic accidents caused by heavy vehicles and improve traffic flow in the city.

The ban with effect from February 14 to April 13, 2025 limits the movement of dumpers carrying building materials, mixing machines and other heavy traffic within the city borders from 10am to 6pm.

However, vehicles transporting important ingredients including water, edible oil, life -saving medical gases and other related goods will be exempt from this restriction.

Since January 1, 2025, at least 108 people have died in traffic accidents over Karachi, according to official data.
