Quetta:
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has accused police of using excessive power against protesters in the provincial capital and claimed that they opened fire on peaceful protesters, killed three people and wounded dozens, including seven in critical condition.
However, Balochistan government spokesman Shahid Rind rejected the allegations and stated that the protesters resort to stone pelvation and unprovoked violence and injured several police officers, including a female constable.
The government maintained that law enforcement acted in accordance with the law to clear a blocked national highway, while BYC insisted that security forces used unnecessary strength to suppress a peaceful demonstration.
Authorities have sealed the red zone with reference to security concerns and the need to maintain public policy.
Balochistan National Party-Mengal (GDP-M) and the National Party (NP) condemned what they describe as excessive strength against peaceful protesters, and called on the government to participate in dialogue to resolve the situation.
Dr. Mahrang Baloch, head of BYC, leads the protest and has promised to continue sit-in on Saryab Road and demand justice for the victims.
On Thursday, relatives of missing persons who had demanded that they be allowed to identify dead organs brought to the civil hospital, managed to remove a number of corpses from the hospital’s Likhus.
Although it was not clear whether they had positively identified the bodies as belonging to their missing loved ones, the hospital’s officials Dawn told the protesters attached to the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), forced their way into the Likhuset and removed at least five organs.
