Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the government to introduce a Ramazan Nutgun Package without involving auxiliary stores aimed at limiting corruption and preventing the sale of substandard products.
The Prime Minister approached a federal cabinet meeting and emphasized the need for a transparent and effective emergency mechanism for Ramadan, saying that the previous year’s package faced several complaints due to incorrect management in utilities.
“I had said months ago that the current system of auxiliary stores is unsustainable. Last Ramadan, who was excessive complaints about help stores, so we decided to introduce a package without them,” he said.
During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over the declining rate of inflation and noted that it fell from 28.73% in January 2024 to 4.1% in December 2024.
“The gradual decline in inflation is a positive development. Our focus is now on economic growth and all relevant ministries must concentrate on this goal,” he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that achieving sustained economic growth remains an important challenge and emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among ministries to create economic stability.
Shehbaz Sharif also announced that Saudi Arabia has approved one year’s exposed oil payment system worth $ 1.2 billion.
He noted that the previously deferred payment agreement ended in December 2023, but a Saudi delegation visited Pakistan towards Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to end the expansion.
“This facility will give Pakistan much needed financial relief when we work to stabilize the economy,” he said.
During the cabinet session, the Prime Minister expressed grief over the attack on a polio vaccination team in Jamrud, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
He offered prayers for the slain security personnel and confirmed the government’s obligation to eradicate polio despite security challenges.
