Karachi:
Given the frequent closure of roads leading to the parachinar area of the KP Kurram district, the government has begun to weigh the opportunity to revive the parachute.
In this regard, a team that consisted of officials in Pakistan Airports Authority (on) and Pia, the airport in the remaining area so that passenger and commercial flights could be operated from there.
According to a spokesman, the visit was carried out under Instruction from the Ministry of Defense. The eight-member team consisted of six on-officials and two members of Pia.
The team was led by additional director of Operations (IIAP) Younus Luqman Qazi, while other members included deputy APM (BKIAP) Mohsin Ahmed Ghori and engineer Shah Jahan.
During the visit, the team conducted a detailed assessment of the airport’s infrastructure, navigation aids and operational capabilities. An opportunity report is being prepared that will serve as the basis for future decisions regarding the airport’s restoration.
“On remaining obliged to improve the air connection throughout the country,” the spokesman said.
Sectarian violence triggered the Kurram district last November, resulting in deaths of dozens of people.
Later, the parachinar area suffered an acute lack of basic necessities, including food and medicine due to the closure of roads leading to it by protesters.
