Govt Taps EU’s demand for qualified labor

The Senate’s Standing Committee for Overseas Pakistanis and the development of human resources was informed on Thursday that Europe was expected to demand 450 million qualified workers in the coming years, and Pakistan is moving to place its workforce to meet demand.

Similarly, a work agreement has already been signed between Italy and Pakistan, while a similar agreement is soon expected with Belarus.

During the session, chairman of Senator Zeeshan Khanzada, secretary of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and the development of human resources, Dr. Arshad Mahmood that Belarus demanded about 150,000 qualified workers.

Efforts are being made to send as many Pakistani workers as possible, he added.

Dr. Mahmood also stated that Europe requires qualified labor, and Pakistan has initiated six-month specialized educational programs at five universities, including NUST, with the aim of securing confirmed employment opportunities abroad after the end.

He revealed that Italian Interior Minister visited Pakistan one day earlier and formally signed a bilateral agreement to recruit qualified labor from Pakistan.

CEO SEHAT SAHULAT program Muhammad Arshad informed the committee that all Pakistani citizens were entitled to free medical treatment during the program.

For further details, he added, citizens can send their CNIC number to 8500 to access information about affiliated hospitals and other services.

Separately oriented the Director -General of the Foreign Office, the committee that Pakistan has signed prisoner exchange agreements with eight countries where 185 convicted persons have been repatriated.
