Govt will not oppose Imran Khan’s release if court decisions: Rana Sanaullah

Advisor to the Prime Minister on political and public affairs, Rana Sanaullah, said on Thursday that the government would not object if the courts decide to release the prison Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

The statement comes as PTI prepares for a nationwide protest campaign after Eidul Fitr, with the aim of challenging what it calls a “stolen mandate” and pushing to the rule of law, constitutional supremacy and the release of political prisoners.

Adding to the political pressure announced Jamat Disadvanta-e-Islam-Fazl (Jui-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman also that his party plans to protest against the federal government’s policy following Eid who adapted PTI’s agenda.

In a speech with journalists on Thursday, Sanaullah emphasized that Khan remains in prison because of conviction in several cases.

The former prime minister has been behind pillars since August 2023, and faces several charges ranging from corruption to terrorism following his radiance through a non-confidence movement in April 2022.

In a comment on the recent camera session in the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Sanaullah said Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was called on to strengthen the police and counteract the Terrorism Department (CTD) capabilities in response to rising terrorist activities.

The high -level meeting, convened by the National Assembly’s speeches Ayaz Sadiq on advice from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, treated the worsening security situation, especially in KP and Balochistan.

While PTI’s parliamentary leadership, including opposition leader Omar Ayub, jumped over the session, the KP chief minister attended the representative of the province.
