Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Monday that institutional reforms are progressing rapidly across all sectors, as part of a broader effort to eliminate corruption and tackle sustained gaps in transparency.
“All government institutions work tirelessly to eliminate corruption and other shortcomings, such as lack of transparency,” said Shehbaz, while chairing a high -level meeting on the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reforms in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister ordered officials to engage internationally recognized audit firms for third -party reforms underway in the field of FBR to ensure credibility and external accountability.
Shehbaz also reviewed the performance of the faceless customs assessment system, a central initiative launched to minimize human interference in customs processes.
He expressed satisfaction and noted that the system had improved revenue collection and reduced clearance times significantly.

He confirmed that the government’s reform agenda, which was strengthened by recent economic indicators, is evidence that the country is moving in the right direction.
Officials at the meeting informed the Prime Minister of Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (Pral) reforms and announced that a simplified digital tax return would soon be introduced, including features in Urdu and other local languages to help the public.
The meeting attended the Minister of Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister of Information and TV -Casting Attaullah Tarar, the FBR chairman and other senior officials.

Previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz had instructed the urgent and effective implementation of ongoing FBR reforms, which paid special attention to digitization and automation of the country’s tax system.
At a meeting, Shehbaz called for decisive action to correct what he described as “70 years of wrong leadership” in Pakistan’s tax infrastructure. He reiterated that although honest taxpayers and businesses would be fully supported, those involved in evasion would have fixed legal consequences without exceptions.
Shehbaz also praised FBR and its enforcement arms for their recent efforts to improve tax revenue after rolling out systems such as the faceless customs assessment system.
