Gracie Mansion is host of first Pakistan Heritage Day ever

Pakistan Heritage Day was marked for the first time in Gracie Mansion, the official residence of the mayor of New York City.

The ceremony attended New York Mayor Eric Adams, Senior City and State Officers, Diplomats, Political Leaders and a large number of Pakistani-American members of the community. Pakistan’s permanent representative of the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad and Consul General in Pakistan in New York Aamer Ahmed Atozai represented Pakistan in the apartment. A moment of silence was observed for the victims of recent floods in Pakistan.

When he spoke to the occasion, Ambassador Ahmad congratulated society with Pakistan’s 78. He reiterated that Pakistan was fully capable of defending his sovereignty while continuing to work for peace, progress and international cooperation.

Consul General Atozai thanked Mayor Adams for recognizing contributions from the Pakistani-American community. He said that Pakistan’s legacy was not only rooted in the independence of 1947, but also in its ancient civilizations, pluralistic traditions and cultural wealth.

Mayor Adams congratulated in his remarks the Pakistani-American community on the Pakistan Independence Day and praised their contribution to the city’s social, cultural and economic material. He confirmed his administration’s obligation to engage in global communities including the Pakistani Diaspora

The event ended with expressions of gratitude to the mayor’s office of international affairs, led by Commissioner Aissata Camara, and a confirmation of the sustained friendship between Pakistan and the United States.
