Graham Norton is among millions of fans who openly and proudly call themselves Swiftie.
In a chat with Sherri Shehpard about her show Sherrireflected the British host on his admiration for the megastar.
“You’ve had tons of celebrities on your show. You made a very bold claim about Taylor Swift,” the 57-year-old said.
Her remark was a reference to Graham’s description of the Grammy winner at Kylie and Jackie O radio show as a “so close to normal person” who could “change the economy of the country just by showing up.”
“[It was] a nice thing,” he remarked. Sherri replied, “Very nice thing. That was so nice,” asked, “I was thinking, are you an undercover Swiftie?”
“Oh, I’m not undercover, I’m an out-and-out Swiftie. I love her,” the 61-year-old replied. “What’s extraordinary about Taylor Swift, because here’s a woman — she could change the economy of a country just by showing up. And yet she seems so grounded, so normal. It’s fascinating.”
After a brief exchange with the host about going to the Eras Tour shows, Graham recalled his experience at one in Ireland.
“I went to Dublin and it was sort of organized through my show and through Taylor’s people,” he recalled. “So I’ve been shown in and I realize we’re headed for the VIP tent.”
“You know, the one on the ground. So we’re in Ireland and I’m like, ‘Who else is going to be in the VIP tent? Is Bono going to be there? The Prime Minister?’
“We’ll get there. It was just me,” the Irish comedian shared. “No one else!” adding: “Me and a full bar, thanks Taylor!”
“It wasn’t full when I left,” he continued. “And Taylor makes good drinks.”
“I was literally alone. I was alone in a tent for four hours. But I saw a lot of Taylor Swift in the distance. And I drank her bar dry.”
“It was a very good night,” concluded Graham. “I’m not complaining by any means.”
