Thursday night was not the first time Doyel created a voting with his comments in a press room. In May 2024, Veteran-Paltian was suspended for two weeks at his outlets and was removed from covering Indiana Fever-Beat after he made controversial comments to Star Caitlin Clark.

Before asking her a question at her inviting press conference, Doyel formed a heart symbol with his hands for Clark. The then rookie asked Doyel if he liked it and he replied, “I like that you’re here.”

Clark said she is doing gesture with her hands to her family “After every game,” as Dotel replied, “Start doing it towards me and we come together.” While talking to former head coach Christie Sides, he also referred to Clark as “it” and “it.”
