Quetta:
Two separate incidents in Balochistan on Monday have renewed concern about public security and the overall security landscape in the province.
In Quetta, a grenade explosion near Bakra Mandi left the eastern bypass three people wounded, including the Station House Officer (SHO) from Manzoor Shaheed police station.
According to police officers, the attack targeted a mobile patrol and was carried out by unidentified attacks.
The wounded officers were quickly transported to a government hospital where they received emergency medical treatment. In response to the attack closed law enforcement agencies the area and launched a search operation.
The Eastern bypass has seen similar events in the past and raising questions about security measures in the area.
Authorities have since tightened the security of sensitive zones all over the city.
In Mastung, a separate violent incident triggered a major public protest.
After a man was mortally shot near Alizai-City Pass, his family and local residents staged a demonstration by placing the victim’s body on Quetta-Karachi Highway and demanding immediate arrest of those responsible.
