Hackers mimic Saudi -crown prince to promote false ‘official’ Memecoins

Hackers took control of Saudi-Law Conference’s social media account on X and used it to emulate Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and promote fake cryptocurrencies.

In a series of now-plated posts, the scams used the name and image of the Crown Prince, which acts as Saudi Arabia’s prime minister, to promote an “official Saudi Arabia Memecoin” as well as a “Falcon Memecoin.” The stills were accompanied by contract addresses to identify tokens.

The conference, an important legal event in the country, confirmed on LinkedIn that the official X account was compromised and advised users that any “content published through the account does not represent our views or official positions in any way.”

“We confirm that we are urgently working to regain control of the account and disclaims all responsibility for all unauthorized positions made during this period. We also apologize for our supporters of any inconvenience, this can cause and encourage everyone to exercise caution and refrain from engaging in any suspicious content posted via the account so far, ”wrote the Saudi Law Conference.

The incident comes in the midst of controversy around the Argentine President Javier Milei over a post promoting a Memecoin called weight and its subsequent removal.
