Heavy rain, strong wind and hailstorms hit Islamabad and the surrounding areas on Wednesday and broke a spell with warm and dry weather in the federal capital.

The sudden rainfall and powerful wind throw brought a noticeable drop in temperature that offer temporary relief of the heat. However, the severe hailstorm caused damage to vehicles and crushed the glass windows in several cars.

Weather Services had previously expected partially cloudy sky with thunderstorms and possible hail for Wednesday night.

Maximum temperatures during the day reached between 34 ° C and 36 ° C with humidity at 64%.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that hot and dry weather will return to the region by Thursday, with similar conditions expected Friday.

Meanwhile, parts of the country’s upper and central regions also experienced insulated showers and gusty wind as a western weather system passed through.
