A new accessibility feature added to Google Docs will allow users to generate audio versions of their documents to easily listen, but rather than traditional computer reading systems use it Gemini for a more natural language approach.
By using Gemini to read your documents, Google hopes to improve intonation and personality to make it easier for listeners to understand and absorb information.
“Whether you want to hear your content aloud, absorb information better as you read or help capture errors in your writing, sounds the audio versions of your documents you clear, natural -sounding voices that read your documents aloud,” summarized Google in a blog post.
Gemini Reads Your Google -Documents To You
The feature that Will has already started rolling out to some users allows eligible Google subscribers to change voices and playback speeds for optimal comfort.
There are two ways to access the gemini-driven reader, including via Tools> Sound where an audio clip will be AI-generated.
Document writers can also choose to insert audio buttons directly into the document via Insert> Sound Buttons so readers can quickly click the button for a full reading. Buttons can be customized with different styles and colors.
“This new audio feature in docs helps you engage in your content in fresh ways and can improve the availability of your documents,” Google added.
Business Standard/Plus and Enterprise Standard/Plus accounts will be among the first to access as well as customers with Gemini Education, Education Premium, Business or Enterprise Add-ons.
Fortunately, it is not a feature reserved for businesses, with Google AI Pro and Ultra plans that are also gaining access.
However, from the launch it works only in English and on desktop versions of documents – no future plans for accessibility have been confirmed at this time.
