‘Hawk Tuah Girl’ Hailey Welch claims SEC, FBI cleared her for the Hawk Memecoin disaster

Haliey Welch, better known as “Hawk Tuah Girl”, now distances herself from last December’s failed Hawk Memecoin-on despite having previously called it a fully compatible, fan-focused token, which she was proud to launch.

In a new episode of her speech Tuah Podcast, Welch claimed she was questioned by the FBI and handed over her phone to SEC, but was eventually “cleared” for wrongdoing.

“They went through my phone so they cleared me. I was good at going,” she said. “I wish we knew what we know now.” She also avoided direct responsibility, instead of framing herself as an ignorant farmer: “I have nothing to hide.”

But Welch’s latest comments – claimed she did not understand crypto and felt “sick” as fans trusted her – is in sharp contrast to her original announcement in November 2024.

At the time, Welch said she was “excited to be part of Meme Culture” and had “learned so much” while working with launch partners to bring $ Hawk to life.

The token launched on Solana briefly hit the market capital of $ 491 million before throwing less than $ 100 million in hours. Welch’s team claimed that the project was legally compatible and supported by a Cayman Foundation, saying her tokens would earn over three years.

Welch claims that user losses are much lower

She continued to claim that although the customer’s losses were estimated to be as high as $ 1.2 million, the real loss of $ 180,000 is.

However, there are still 10,149 token holders according to sun scan, and many of these holders were never sold, so losses were never realized. The figure of $ 180,000 does not include these holders.

Commentators on her podcast don’t buy the story.

“She admits she didn’t know anything about it, but decided to approve it anyway and promote it?” A YouTube comment read. “You should never have attached yourself to something you didn’t understand,” said someone else.

The HAWK prices are 99% down since Peak in December and sit at a small $ 104,000 market value from Tuesday morning.
