Pakistan’s meteorological authorities have issued a heat wave warning for most parts of the country, with temperatures expected to hover well over average in the next four to five days.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), day temperatures of the day 5 to 7 ° C remain over seasonal average over northern and central regions-Herunder Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan-from May 15 to 19.
In the southern half of the country, including Sindh, southern Punjab and Balochistan, the hete wave is expected to last until at least 20 May, when temperatures probably remain 4 to 6 ° C above normal.
PMD said conditions are driven by sustained continental air and a developing high -pressure system in the upper atmosphere that grabs large parts of the country from Thursday and future.
“Hot and dry weather is expected in most regions with extremely high temperatures in the plains,” said forecasts for Usama Ali Zuberi.
Over the past 24 hours, very hot conditions were observed across lowland areas. The highest temperatures were registered in DADU (48 ° C), Jacobabad (47 ° C) and several cities that hit 45 ° C – including Sibbi, Turn Cat, Sukkur, Rohri and Rahim Yar Khan.
Forecasts for central southern cities show no immediate relief. Dadu is expected to reach the top between 47-51 ° C over the next three days, while Nawabshah, Mithi and Mohenjo-Daro are probably hovering between 42-48 ° C. Karachi, with higher humidity, is expected to reach up to 40 ° C.
Residents have been asked to limit outdoor activities, remain hydrated and take precautions against heat features.
