An ongoing heat wave in Punjab has forced the provincial government to reduce school hours and advertise during the early summer holidays from May 28.

School hours until the beginning of the holidays are from 1 p.m. 07.30 to 11.30.

According to a review, Punjab School Education Department announced on Tuesday that the educational institutions would be closed for summer holidays from May 28 instead of June 1 as announced earlier.

Schools throughout the province will be opened again after the holidays on August 15.

The Department of Higher Education Department in Punjab also announced that the summer holidays in colleges and universities would begin on May 28.

A spokesman for Pakistan Meteorological Department said the ruling heat wave would probably continue during the current week. The maximum temperature in Lahore on Tuesday was registered as a 42 degree Celsius.

The spokesman said that high pressure is likely to continue in the upper atmosphere during the current week. Under the influence of this meteorological state, day temperatures probably remain four to 6 ° C above normal in South Punjab until May 24th.

Day temperatures in central and upper Punjab probably remain up to 7 ° C above normal during the period. Dust storms and gusty winds are expected in isolated places in the ordinary areas due to excessive heat during the period.

Due to the heat wave, the residents, especially children, women and the elderly, have been asked to take precautionary measures, avoid direct exposure to sunlight during the day and remain hydrated.

Farmers were asked to manage their crop activities while considering weather conditions and also take care of their livestock.

Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) also issued a warning of temperature rise and heat wave.

Punjab -Nut Help Commissioner Nabeel Javed issued instructions to the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners throughout the province of remaining aware. He said that the affected departments, including the district administrations, should be vigilant considering the heat wave.

The alarm has also been issued to the departments of school education, health, transport, local authorities and rescue 1122, which share concerns about the temperature rise and the heat wave in major cities and Punjab -slides until May 24.

There is an opportunity for an unusual increase in temperature in the next few days. Due to the heat wave, there are also chances of strong wind and thunderstorms in some places in the plains.

PDMA -Human Director Irfan Ali Kathia said a warning has been issued to the district administrations to ensure the supply of clean water in public places.

The provision of first aid to heat flow should be secured in hospitals and mobile health units, he said.
