Heatwave warning issued to southern Pakistan

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released a weather alarm that forecasts heat -like conditions in southern parts of the country from Tuesday 8 April until April 11.

Temperatures in Sindh, parts of Balochistan and central and southern Punjab are expected to remain 4 ° C to 7 ° C above normal during this period.

In southern Pakistan, areas, including Sibi, Dadu and Nawabshah, are expected to experience extreme temperatures and reach up to 48 ° C.

Other regions such as Sukkur and Turn Cat could see temperatures rise to 46 ° C, while areas such as Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan may experience heights of 43 ° C to 42 ° C. Lahore is expected to reach 40 ° C.

The public, especially vulnerable groups such as senior citizens, children and women, are advised to take precautionary measures to prevent hot -related diseases. Residents are encouraged to avoid direct sunlight and remain hydrated during the hot weather.

Meanwhile, a low western wave is expected to enter the northern regions of the country on Tuesday night and remain until April 11.

This system is likely to bring dust and thunderstorms with occasional rainfall to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Pothohar region and the northeast Punjab.

Isolated hailstorms can also occur with dust storms and gusty winds expected in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Upper Sindh during this period.
