Standing crops, orchards, vehicles suffer damage, power supply collapses across the district
Heavy rain accompanied by a hailstorm hit the Upper Dir and Swat districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, causing a sharp drop in temperature and causing widespread disruption.
In Dir, the rain and hail led to darkness and triggered flash floods in streams, blocking traffic on GT Road. The intense rainfall caused erosion along roads in the upper reaches, leaving residents confined to their homes.
Standing crops, orchards and vehicles also suffered damage while power supply was cut across the district as the power system collapsed amid the storm.
In Swat, heavy rain and hail also intensified the cold. In Mingora town, rising water levels in drains and streams highlighted the poor performance of the Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC), with blocked drains spilling water onto the roads.

Residents faced hardship as rainwater flooded the streets. Meanwhile, a lightning strike in Chakdara damaged the 132,000-volt transmission line, disrupting power supply in various areas.
According to WAPDA Swat officials, efforts are on to restore electricity, but no timetable has been given for full restoration.
