Heavy rain probably across Punjab

Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Thursday issued a weather warning for heavy monsoon rains in Lahore and several other cities in the province that called on relevant departments and the public to remain vigilant.

According to PDMA -Head of General Irfan Ali Kathia, the seventh magic form for monsoon rains has begun and is expected to continue until August 21. He warned that this spell is significantly stronger than before and can result in intense rainfall across river scope as well as Punjab’s erases.

“The monsoon shower is likely to affect most districts in the province,” said Mr Kathia, noting that both urban and rural areas could be affected.

In response to the forecast, the PDMA chief has instructed all Deputy Commissioners to ensure emergency preparedness on Earth. He emphasized that water and sanitation agencies (WASA), rescue 1122 and other relevant departments must remain on high alarm throughout the weather cycle.

Officials have been asked to ensure the rapid drainage of rainwater from low -lying areas and to insert staff and machines at choke points. Further emphasis has been placed on maintaining effective drainage systems around roads, hospitals and public institutions to prevent disruption.

Mr. Kathia added that all water disposal stations must remain operational, with backup power systems ready in case of power cuts.

DG appealed DG to citizens to avoid unnecessary journeys and recreational activities near rivers warning that flood -like conditions continue in several water conditions throughout the province.

PDMA said it will continue to monitor the situation closely and coordinate with district administrations to mitigate any damage.
