Upper DIR:
Torrential Rains beaten Upper DIR on Saturday, causing infrastructure damage and claiming a child’s life.
Heavy rainfall in the areas of Kohistan in Upper Dir, including Jahaz Banda, Lamoti, Badgoi and Jandri, and triggered flash river in streams and the Kohistan River.
The intense rainfall swept at least three key bridges in Jahaz Banda, Lamoti, Jandri and nearby areas, cut off road connections and isolation of the local communities.
Residents resort to road repairs on a self -help in the middle of the destruction.
Several houses, fertile agricultural areas and link roads were washed away in the floods. Kumrat Road was also flooded at different points, leaving scores of tourists stranded. Long queues of vehicles were seen along damaged sections of the route.
Floodwaters entered Patraak Bazaar, flooded stores and homes, causing significant losses for both residents and dealers. Several hydropower units were also swept away, resulting in power cuts in several areas. Crops and orchards were severely affected by cloudburst.
Dir Bala -assistant Commissioner Muhammad Fayaz, along with the local police, reached the affected areas and launched relief and recovery operations.
In a speech with the media, he said that temporary restoration of roads and bridges will be secured as soon as possible to facilitate movement and help.
It is relevant to mention that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued an impact -based advisory warning of an intense heat wave from June 18 to 22, and called on the public to take precautionary measures to minimize health risks.
The heat wave is expected to affect parts of southern Punjab, Sindh, eastern Balochistan and southern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, according to the advisory issued by NDMA’s National Emergency Center (Neoc) on Wednesday.
“High -pressure systems in the upper atmosphere are likely to continue, leading to extreme temperatures, especially in Jacobabad, Dadu, Larkana, Sukkur, Khairpur and Nawabshah,” the counseling states. Day temperatures are expected to hover between 46 ° C and 48 ° C.
In Punjab, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur are probably hit hard, while Sibi, Nasirabad, Dera Murad Jamali and Jaffarabad in Balochistan and Tank, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan in KP also experience extreme heat.
The public has been asked to avoid unnecessary outdoor activity, especially between 7 p.m. 11 and 16, wear light colored and loose appropriate clothing and remain hydrated.
“Do not leave children or the elderly unattended in parked vehicles,” the counseling added, emphasizing the importance of controlling vulnerable persons.
NDMA is closely monitoring the situation and coordinates with relevant provincial and local authorities. Citizens have been invited to follow updates from Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), NDMA and local disaster management authorities.
Any emergency situations should be reported to local guides or provincial disaster control authority control rooms.
