HEC Revises Geology Education in Pakistan

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Pakistan has revised the curricula for a geological degree to adapt to the latest progress in the field, ensuring that academic programs meet industry demands and global trends.

A two-day advisory session, led by Professor Dr. Mumtaz Muhammad Shah, was held at the HEC Regional Center in Lahore, which overall geological experts and senior faculty members from universities throughout Pakistan.

The revised curricula for associate degree, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Geology focuses on bridging theoretical knowledge and practical uses that contain modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, calculation modeling and geospatial analysis.

New specialized courses, including AI & Computational Geology, have been introduced to equip students with advanced technological skills relevant to contemporary geological research and industry practice.

The revised curricula will be circulated to universities nationwide for implementation when formally approved by HEC management.
