Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat on Wednesday called for public entity in the wake of the tragic suicide blast near Shahwani Stadium, who urged citizens to avoid panic, refrain from guilt games and maintain Balochistan’s long -standing message of peace.
Shafqaat, who treated an emergency press conference at the you office, confirmed that the suicide attack on Sariab Road required 15 lives and wounded 32 others.
He said the minister of chief has also announced a compensation package of RS1.5 million for the deceased families, RS0.5 million for each wounded person and RS200,000 support for smaller victims of Shahwani Stadium incident.
The explosion took place approx. 500 meters from the starting point of a public rally held to mark the year of death for Sardar Attaullah Mengal. He said the rally had officially ended hours earlier, with the explosion that took place at 1 p.m. 21.45 in a poorly lit area near a cemetery.
Despite an alarm with high security in Quetta, Hamza said the striker was unable to break the main collection due to strict security measures, including the insertion of 120 police personnel. He added that this forced the assailant to detonate the unit away from the crowd.
The remains of the bombers assumed to be under 30 years of age were recovered and the authorities estimate that about eight kg of explosives were used. Hamza Shafqaat revealed that the district administration had issued a no objection certificate (NOC) for the rally under pressure from organizers, conditioning that the event should be concluded at. 15.00.
He noted that the administration had previously denied NOC requests due to credible security threats. He praised the maturity of law enforcement staff and highlighted the sacrifice of a police constable that was the only provider of his family and embraced martyrdom while protruding others.
