Helium plus let companies participate in the Solana Depin project with just Wi-Fi

Helium, one of the best known depin projects at Solana, launches a new service called Helium Plus for the purpose of transforming how companies contribute to the helium network.

Helium Plus allows public Wi-Fi providers and businesses to participate in the network using existing Wi-Fi routers without any additional hardware. This opens the door to users and businesses to serve the network’s original token, HNT, by supporting wireless connection while knocking on a community -driven mobile infrastructure.

Decentralized physical infrastructure networks (Depin) are blockchain-driven systems that incentives individuals and organizations to implement and maintain infrastructure in the real world as wireless networks by rewarding them with crypto-tokens. These networks are changing infrastructure ownership and operation from centralized devices to a distributed, community -driven model.

Helium focuses specifically on decentralized wireless connection, allowing users to provide network coverage through individually implemented “hotspots.” Participants then earn HNT -Tokens by supporting the transfer of mobile data and expanding network accessibility.

Before Thursday’s announcement, participation in the helium ecosystem typically meant to implement physical hotspots devices that required pre -investment and technical configuration. With Helium Plus, users can use existing Wi-Fi routers, which effectively transforms any place with Wi-Fi into a helium access point, making the cost burden easier for users who want to run the network.

“Helium Plus represents a big leap forward in how companies can contribute to the helium network,” said Mario Di Dio, Network General Manager at Helium, in a press release shared with Coindesk. “It offers immediate, cheap wireless integration, which reduces infrastructure costs while creating new revenue streams and improving the connection. The simplicity of our process is the key to unlocking the full potential of this expansion.”
