Taylor Swift has officially dropped the music video for Opalitethe latest single from her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl.
And it’s already popular thanks to its nostalgic 90s vibe, clever concept and glittering celebrity line-up.
Swift reunited with cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, who previously worked with her on Too Good: The Short Film.
The concept
Swift teased at first Opalite after a performance at The Graham Norton Show where she got the idea for the song while joking with actor Domhnall Gleeson.
Swift described the project as “an absolute thrill to create this story and these characters.”
Written and directed by Swift herself, the video begins as a satirical commercial before unfolding into a rom-com story.
Domhnall Gleeson plays Swift’s shy love interest whose life changes when she injects herself with the magical “Opalite” potion.
Celebrity Cameos
Much like her iconic Bad blood video, Swift got a star-studded lineup.
Oscar winner Cillian Murphy makes a subtle cameo that will have fans buzzing, while Gleeson takes center stage opposite Swift.
Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lewis Capaldi and Graham Norton join in the fun.
Where to see
The Opalite video is now streaming on YouTube, Apple Music and other platforms, making it easily accessible to Swifties worldwide.
Release strategy
The video premiered exclusively on Spotify Premium and Apple Music on February 6.
Fans without a subscription can access teaser clips, but the full video requires premium access.
For fans waiting on YouTube, the video will air on Sunday, February 8 at 8 EST, which coincides with Super Bowl Sunday, making it a double party for Swifties.
