What are cooler than earplugs that look like they belong in a galaxy far, far away? Obviously, earplugs that also embody the tones of Star Wars from a light saber that ignites a droid iconic cried.
Now, in the construction of the Star Wars celebration, which starts on April 18, 2025, in Tokyo, Japan, Star Wars has collaborated with Audio-Technica for four custom earplugs, and Techradar has your exclusive first-on experience with all fours.
This collaboration comes alive as four limited versions, customized pairs of ATH CKS50TW2. You can show your allegiance to the dark side or to the rebels with Darth Vader, R2-D2, GROGU and the mandalory models. And these versions not only look like the part of Darth Vader ear plugs that gets a glossy black finish that looks like the iconic helmet or R2-D2 that gets a blue and white paint job, but these can also boast custom sound effects.
Techradar can also reveal that the box contains a custom, glossy sticker that matches the earbuds and contains the iconic character. The box itself is limited and special. You don’t have to worry about summoning a bounty to afford these limited editions-If you can get your hands on a pair, Star Wars Educations of ATH CKS50TW2 $ 179,99 cost, which is only $ 30 more than the standard.
These earplugs are launched only in person at the Star Wars celebration, so if you are lucky enough to be in Tokyo, Japan, you will get them first. But they will also be available in limited quantity-note words about the exact number of-from-Audio-Technica directly, beginning on April 21, 2025. These will start sending on none other than Star Wars Day-4. May.
But we have the earplugs you are looking for and have removed all Fire-R2-D2, Darth Vader, Mandalorian and Grogu included. Keep rolling for a photo guide as well as the special details we have discovered by going hand and ears. And if you are already familiar with the ATH CKS50TW2, these can boast the same function kit.
The custom character of the four buds is an iconic paint job for each that starts with the case. These still have a mostly plastic building for the hull, but embossed on the top lid is an iconic phrase associated with the character.
- Darth Vader: “It’s your fate.”
- Mandalorian: “This is like that.”
- R2-D2: “The droid you’re looking for.”
- GROGU: “No matter where I go, he goes.”
It’s also color post, so Darth Vader is a deep black, Mandalorian is a lighter shade of silver that tries its best to look like cutting, R2-D2 is white with blue accents, and Grogu is two separate shades of green. The design team here really took the time to pay tribute to the characters.
The ears sit in the case and have the same build as standard ATH CKS50TW2, including the fact that they magnetically click together. This is definitely a feature I would like to see some other buds adopt.
With grogu it pairs green with a light brown to the head hull – the ear tips are green and several are included in the box, but there is also Aurebesh writing included on the outside. However, printed on the earbuds is – turned down from the ear – another iconic phrase. In Grogus’s case, it is the “child” on the left earbud and “small bounty” to the right.
For the other half of the clan of two, Mandalorian, the earplugs mostly use different shades of silver, where the largest color choice is a brushed. It has some brilliance to it and the ear tips are dark gray. The message here is just to the point – “Mandalorian” on the left and “Bounty Hunter” on the right.
The R2-D2 is mostly white with some blue stripes on the side and blue ear tip, the printed message is as much to the point as Mando ‘-“R2-D2” on the left and “Astromech Droid” on the right.
It looks like the dark side is coming out on top of design. Darth Vader knobs look pretty impressive with a glossy black finish facing the world, and the Audio-Technica team here uses red accents sparingly. The most important thing is that the “power of” lives to the left and “the dark side” lives to the right – where cool. These just look amazing.
While the companion app for Android or iOS has not yet been updated to pair with these earplugs, there will be a skin that matches the earbuds in the app. Now something cooler than designed the special sounds that may add Star Wars moments into your day.
An interesting choice, given that this is the resin of the ATH CKS50TW2. There are no speaking in the case, so the custom sounds play only within the earbuds and can be a little difficult to hear first.
Audio-Technica has adapted chime to the earplugs when you take them out of the case or put them back in with other features such as engaging noise cancellation or a review mode.
With Darth Vader you will hear the light saber ignite and the famous, ominous, deep breathing. Hitting the button on the wader buds gives a heart rate of light. Although I have not been able to make it work, a red alarm alarm sounds too low battery – determined to increase the effort.
For Grogu you will hear what sounds like his pod or closure, but you also hear some of the iconic Coos that Baby Yoda is known for. This pod or doorway or closure of sound is the same for Mandalorian when you first take them out of the case and to hit the button to engage a state sounds like a credit thrown on the table – or maybe cut off.
However, my favorite goes to R2-D2. You hear his iconic beep when you first put these earplugs in and connect, but interruption gives us the iconic cried. It’s just nice. Imagine that when the app goes live and these are completely launched, there will be some customization.
In front you can see a complete photo slave show of all the close details in Grogu, R2-D2, Darth Vader and the mandaloric ATH CKS50TW2 earplugs. And if you’re lucky enough to be at the Star Wars celebration, you can get them in person, or if you’re in the US and want to test your luck, try to score them when they go up for pre-ordering from Audio-Technica here.
