- Apple Home now supports Select Matter-Aktable Robot Vacuums
- Assuming your vacuum is supported, you can soon say, ‘siri, vacuum kitchen’
- It has long arrived when the support was originally promised by the end of 2024
If you have dreamed of a day of saying, ‘Hi Siri, you should have the vacuum clean the living room and the kitchen,’ Apple replies your beans. Well, at least if you have one of the qualified robotic vacuum cleaners.
With iOS 18.4-APPLES latest software rolled out right now with iPados 18.4, MacOS Sequoia 15.4, TVOS 18.4 and HomePods Software-Apple Home can now play neat and controlled qualified Matter-Compatible Robot Vacuum from Roborock, iRobot and Ecovacs.
It’s been a long time to come, to put it mildly.
Apple promised first that support for these smart home cleaners would arrive by the end of 2024, but it took a little longer – four months exactly. Still, the support is here with the latest release.
So what does that mean? If you have a supported model from these three brands, you can add your robot vacuum to your Apple home and control it right from there or even integrate it into an existing automation.
The latter means you can create a routine to get your vacuum cleaner to start a session when you leave the house on Wednesdays to make sure when you return is the floor clean.
In addition, within Apple Home or via Siri from really any Apple device, you may be able to ask the robot wacuum to clean a specific space or ask for its status. Now you may need to update your robotic vacuum cleaner. Roborock announced many firmware updates today, which allows the models to work with Apple Home as they roll out in early April 2025. These include Roborock S8 MAXV Ultra, Saros Z70, Saros 10, Saros 10R, Qrevo Curv, Qrevo Edge and Qrevo Master.
Models from Ecovacs and iRobot will probably also require software updates, and we will update you when we hear more about them. Whether an update is required, it is excellent to see Apple do well with its promise to roll robot vacuum support for Apple Home and it will really strengthen the Smart Home offer.
Of course, we all still wait for AI-Infunded Siri as part of Apple Intelligence, which can make smart home control even better, but it’s set to arrive ‘in the coming year.’ It is likely to arrive before Smart Home Display – alias a HomePod with a screen – which I and many others dream of if it ever arrives.
