A Girls in New York High School Girl Basketball, who was fired over the weekend to pull his hair from one of his players after a loss in the state championship game this week was quoted for harassment in the second degree, according to officials.
Jim Zullo, 81, was fired from his job as the main coach of Northville High School Girles Varsity Basketball team Sunday after he was caught on video that pulled his hair from a player, Hailey Monroe, after Falcons lost Class D State final to La Fargeville Central School on Friday night.

Northville Central School District released a statement announcing the decision and said it was “deeply upset” Zullo’s actions.

“We keep our coaches to the highest standards of professionalism, sportsmanship and respect for our student athletes, and this behavior is completely unacceptable. The district is obliged to ensure that this type of behavior has no place in our programs and we will continue to maintain the values โโof respect and integrity that our athletes, families and communities expect and deserve.
“This person will no longer coach for Northville Central School District,” the statement continued. “We assure the public that this case be taken extremely seriously and the district is actively treating it. The district will follow up with the players and their families to provide support and outline the actions we take in response to this incident.”
The incident took place when both teams stood up to the ceremony after the game, which included handshakes between the players and a prize presentation at the Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.

On Monday, the Hudson Valley Community College Department of Public Safety released a statement confirming that Zullo met with officers and got a performance ticket to harassment in the second degree.
He is going back to court at a later date.
Zullo issued a statement this weekend and apologized for his actions.

“I deeply regret my behavior after the loss to La Fargeville Friday night in Class D State Championship. I would like to offer my sincere excuses to Hailey and her family, our team, the good people at Northville Central Schools and our society,” he said in a statement obtained by Wnyt.
“As a coach, it is under no circumstances acceptable to put my hands on a player and I am really sorry. I wish I could have these moments left. I am grateful for the opportunity to have coached girls basketball in Northville for the past two years, especially last season, which was a difficult time for our family. I am super proud of each of these young women and what they did. thing, and I wish them well. โ I’m well. โI am very proud that everyone one of one of these young women and what they did.
Zullo had previously won a State Championship with Shenendehowa High School Boys Basketball team in 1987 and had moved on to the state final in each of his two seasons with the girls team in Northville.
He took the job there in 2023 at the invitation of his wife who fought for cancer at the time. She died during this season.
